1968 Ford Thunderbird

Nineteen sixty-eight Ford Thunderbirds do not receive more than very mild modifications. The most important of them are the adoption of a new model of hubcaps and the availability of a new “429” Thunder-Jet V-8 rated at no less than 360 bhp - actual output was even higher.

● Introduction: September 1966. Construction: body on separate chassis. Engine: water-cooled V-8, 6.4-litre, 300 hp, mounted at the front. Optional engine: V-8, 7.0-litre, 360 hp. Transmission: to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic gearbox. Suspension: independent at the front, rigid axle at the rear. Brakes: hydraulic, to discs on front wheels, drums on rear wheels, with servo. Length: 526 cm (two-door), 533 cm (four-door). Top speed: 205 to 215 kph. Range: two-door hardtop coupe, two-door “Landau” hardtop coupe, two-door “Landau” pillared hardtop sedan.
