Launched in June 1948 as an advanced 1949 model year, the first post-war Ford adopts a clean and contemporary style. Body is of pontoon type, while a aviation-inspired theme has brought a large, round “air intake” to the centre of the simple and elegant front grille. This body rests on a modern ladder frame and - at last - the car receives an independent coil springs suspension at the front, instead of the traditional rigid axle the late Henry Ford loved so much.
