1968 Mercury Full-Sizes

While the S-55, the Brougham and the peculiar Breezeway sedan all disappear from the 1968 range, Mercury full-size models are subjected to a mild face-lift that includes the transfer of the front turn signals front the bumper to the fore extremity of the front wings. The four-speed manual transmission is removed from the list of available mechanical parts.

Mercury Monterey
The style of the Monterey is angular, and clearly related to the Lincoln Continental. The Monterey’s range includes five models, among them the original Breezeway sedan with its reverse-slant retractable backlight.

Mercury Park Lane
The Park Lane is a posh version of the lesser Monterey and Montclair, loaded with chrome and powered by the “390” four-barrel V-8. “Select-Shilt” automatic transmission and power brakes with discs at the front are standard. This year, Mercury proposes a “Yacht Panelling” option on all its Park Lane models, that is, a woodgrain side appliqué similar to that featured on the Colony Park station wagon.
