1975 Mercury Full-Sizes

For 1975, the full-size Mercurys receives yet another facelift. The whole range now is composed of Lincoln look-alikes. Unknown at this time, the car would now change until its retirement, at the end of 1978.

Mercury's 1975 full-size range includes four lines: Mercury Marquis, Mercury Marquis Brougham, Mercury Grand Marquis and a separate Mercury Marquis Colony Park.

Mercury Marquis
Model year 1975 sees an important reorganization of Mercury’s full-size range. Compared to 1974’s five series and thirteen models, this year only brings four series and eight models. Gone for good is the Monterey - the name had been used continuously since 1952. The new entry-level line is now the Marquis, which loses its standard 7.5-litre engine and its rear fender skirts, but retains its Lincoln-like front end with hidden headlights and more prominent than ever front fenders. Gone too are the hardtop sedan versions.

Mercury Marquis Brougham
A tasteful yet cheaper alternative to the expensive Lincoln Continental, the Marquis Brougham adds to the Marquis’ standard equipment such niceties as power windows, a 7.5-litre engine and more chrome.

Mercury Marquis Colony Park
Mercury’s most luxurious station wagon is the Colony Park, which enjoys equipment similar to that found in the Marquis Brougham. Nevertheless, it remains very close to Ford’s station wagons, except for the Mercury front end grafted onto it.
